Wake Tech Community College, Raleigh, NC, is hosting its fifth regional workshop as part of the SAGE 2YC project. Workshop participants will share best practices to support the success of 2YC geoscience students, and work on putting these ideas into action. The program will focus on aspects of the following topics: effective course design and assessment to support student success in the classroom, ideas for increasing diversity in the geoscience workforce, opportunities for geoscience students in North Carolina, and continuing to build collaboration among faculty at regional 2YCs.
The geoscience education workshop is Friday, October 19 and any professionals who are interested in this topic are invited to attend. Part of the program will be focused on developing resources for courses, but will also include working on ways to increase diversity in geoscience and discussing career pathways for students interested in geoscience careers.
