Duncklee & Dunham, P.C. – Entry Level Staff Geologist
Duncklee & Dunham, P.C. (Duncklee & Dunham) has an opening for an entry-level geologist in our Cary, North Carolina office. Due to our growth-oriented business model, Duncklee & Dunham offers a growing range of services including soil and groundwater assessment and remediation, Brownfields-related work, environmental permitting, compliance, engineering, and industrial hygiene. We have added five entry level scientists in the past 12 months, and continue to grow.
This Staff Geologist position is part of a team that conducts Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (see ASTM International E1527-13 and 40 CFR Part 312 for details). The preferred candidate will have an extroverted personality with good communication skills. The candidate needs to be inquisitive and have great attention to detail, be capable of solving problems without having all the facts. The long-term objective for this individual is to lead the Phase I efforts for the company, from the initial contact with our clients (who come from a wide variety of backgrounds), writing proposals, conducting all tasks associated with the investigations, writing reports, project invoicing and accounting, and following up with clients to be sure we have met their needs.
A secondary responsibility (up to ~30-40% of time) for this position will be to support other service lines within the company. This other work might include conducting field work for Phase II Environmental Site Assessments; sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, indoor air, and soil vapor; overseeing drilling contractors during advancement of soil borings and construction of monitoring wells; and/or overseeing contractors performing remediation work.
