Time: 10 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m.
Details: Geological hike along a portion of the Deep River Rail Trail in Franklinville, NC. We will “island hop” from rocks of the Hyco volcanic island arc to rocks associated with the Albemarle volcanic island arc. Lunch while on the trail – bring your own in a backpack with water. The hike is approximately three miles round-trip.
Location: Meet at the Deep River Trail parking lot off Andrew Hunter Road in Franklinville, NC. There is limited parking – please try to carpool.
Cost: $15 for AEG members and teacher members; $25 for non-members; free for student members of AEG
Registration: Register below by 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2025
Field Trip Waiver: Please sign/date and return the field trip waiver to Rick Kolb by April 30 or bring it with you to the field trip.
Continuing Education Credits: 4 hours for North and South Carolina geology boards
