Annual Meeting and Field Trip
Topic: River and Topographic Evolution in Western North Carolina: Evidence from Linville Gorge and the Laurel Creek Lineament, Spruce Pine, NC
Location: The Fairfield Inn & Suites at 400 N. Green Street in Morganton is the headquarters. The annual business meeting and dinner will be on Friday night at the Morganton Community House. The field trip begins at 8 a.m. on Nov. 2, departing from the Fairfield Inn to visit Camp Creek, Linville Falls, and the Brushy Creek drainage divide as evidence for capture. If time allows, we’ll stop in North Cove on the way back to Morganton to see hydrology – bedrock interactions. The half-day field trip on Sunday will depart the Fairfield Inn at 8 a.m. to visit one of the QuartzCorp quarries in Spruce Pine to observe joints and faults of the Laurel Creek Lineament.
